Minskoff Theater New York is a Broadway theater which is currently housing The Lion King musical, based on a Disney animated movie of the same name. It is located in Midtown Manhattan's 1515 Broadway. Minskoff is about the next floor of One Astor Plaza. If you are a Disney enthusiast, you have to prep yourself for seeing the real beauty of The Lion King. For at least a decade, Minskoff was home to The Lion King, a globally acclaimed musical which is a cult favorite. Minskoff Theater, using a seated place of 1621, is one of the best premier venues of Broadway when it comes to entertainment and art.
History of Minskoff Theater Designed by architects Jacobs and Kahn, Minskoff Theater New York has its name from Sam Minskoff and Sons, the builders and owners of this theater. It was opened on 13th of March, 1973; exhibiting the revival of Irene comprising Debbie Reynolds. Since decades, the theater was a host to a myriad of concerts, dance companies, and musicals.
In the year 1981, Minskoff hosted Miss Universe that was won by Irene Suez from Venezuela. At the same year, it also housed the transport of The Pirates of Penance made by Joseph Papp. In 1991, the theater observed the achievement of Sunset Boulevard. From the year 2006, The Lion King was moved here and remains operating, as of 2019. In September of 2007, Minskoff created its new set inside the space to The Insider, the syndicated new magazine.
